England have included uncapped Dillon Pennington from Nottinghamshire and Jamie Smith from Surrey have been included in a 14-man squad for the first two tests against the West Indies, to be held at Lords and Trent Bridge.

A fast bowler, Pennington has picked up 29 wickets for Nottinghamshire averaging 23.03 in Division One of the ongoing County Championship - Division One. Meanwhile, Jamie Smith, an attacking batter and a wicket-keeper, has scored 507 runs in the Championship at an average of 50.70. With Ben Foakes and Jonny Bairstow not picked in the squad, Smith is set to make his debut at Lord's.

Notable absentees from the previous England Test squad that toured India earlier this year include Tom Hartley, Ollie Robinson, Jack Leach and Mark Wood while off-spinner Shoaib Bashir retains his place.

Uncapped seamer Gus Atkinson, who was picked to tour India but didn't make the XI in any of the five Tests, holds on to his place in a fairly new-look bowling attack that welcomes back Chris Woakes, who'll play his first Test since last year's Ashes.

Legendary England fast bowler James Anderson has been selected only for the first Test, where he will play in his 188th and final game for England. He has 700 wickets to his name since making his Test debut in 2003.

"The first Test of the summer is always a special moment, but it will be extra poignant with it being Jimmy's [Anderson] last Test before he retires. He has given everything to the sport since his Test debut in 2003. We all would like to wish him well as he walks out at Lord's for the last time for England."

"We are looking forward to getting the season underway against a strong West Indies side in what will be an excellent Test series."

Squad for first two matches:Ben Stokes (C), James Anderson (first test only), Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Dillon Pennington, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Jamie Smith (WK), Chris Woakes.
